- Introduction: Solar energy is obtained directly from the various solar radiations, by means of a solar panel that in turn transforms it into electrical energy, generating benefits for the environment related to the low consumption of ecological elements and the low emission of greenhouse gases. Objective: Therefore, the objective of this project is to determine how the use of solar energy in shopping centers in Barranquilla contributes to the conservation of the environmental surroundings; Methodology: The methodology is descriptive, quantitative supported by observation and direct application of a verifying instrument. It is justified to the extent that, through the dissemination of this project, solar energy is known and implemented massively, not only in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, but also anywhere in the world where the daily use of energy is part of the industrial and commercial structure, in addition to the permanent use in activities related to the welfare of homes and communities in general. Results: The results show that solar energy does not put at risk the extinction of the generating source, it does not increase global warming since the production of greenhouse gases is very low. Conclusions: therefore, it is concluded that the benefits received by the environment are relevant and contribute directly to its preservation and conservation.
